Breakfast Sausage Casserole

 

If you are looking for an alternative to your usual start to the day (while not being an early riser like me), then you’re in the right spot! This quick Breakfast Sausage Casserole can be prepared in a few minutes.

It is the perfect meal for gatherings when you have family or company, since you can prepare a dish that requires little work and even less clean up. You can even prepare the sausage the night before so in the morning, all you need to do is combine all the ingredients in the baking dish.

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 C whole milk
  • 6 slices white bread, toasted and cut into cubes
  • 1 C mild Cheddar cheese, shredded

 

How To Make Breakfast Sausage Casserole:

  1. Crumble sausage into a medium skillet.
  2. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown; drain.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together mustard powder, salt, eggs, and milk.
  4. Add the sausage, bread cubes, and cheese, and stir to coat evenly.
  5. Pour into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours, or overnight.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Cover, and bake for 45 to 60 minutes.
  9. Uncover, and reduce temperature to 325 degrees.
  10. Bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until set.
  11. Cut and serve.
