Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars

These Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars are an irresistible, multi-layered treat that perfectly combines a crisp, salty pretzel crust with smooth, homemade caramel. By cooking a blend of brown sugar, butter, and cream for just a few minutes, you get a soft, chewy caramel that pairs beautifully with the rich chocolate topping. Finished with a touch of flaky sea salt, these bars feel like a bakery-quality dessert made right at home.

Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars

Ingredients:

2 cups finely crushed pretzels (about 12 oz)
1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel)
1/4 cup heavy cream (room temperature)
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of flaky sea salt
1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: Prepare the crust
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving extra on the sides for easy removal. Mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar until evenly combined. Press firmly into the pan and bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden. Let it cool completely before adding the next layer.

Step 2: Make the caramel
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Heat over medium, stirring until melted and smooth. Bring to a gentle boil and let it cook for 4–5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, then pour over the cooled crust. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes until set.

Step 3: Add the chocolate layer
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in short intervals in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over the caramel layer. If using white chocolate, melt and drizzle over the top. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while the chocolate is still soft.

Step 4: Slice and serve
Chill for at least 1 hour until firm. Lift the bars out using the parchment paper and cut into squares using a warm, clean knife for neat edges.

Enjoy your rich, crunchy, sweet-and-salty dessert!
